Case Study: Trex Transcend® Lineage® Deck Renovation – Louisville, KY 40222

Completed between May 7 and May 29, this Trex Transcend® Lineage® deck renovation in Louisville, KY features a full demolition, structural rebuild, upgraded composite decking, vertical skirting, and an integrated low-voltage lighting system. A&S Construction removed the existing structure, installed new 6x6 posts, ledger, and pressure-treated framing, and rebuilt the deck using 12" on-center joists protected with joist tape for long-term durability.
The deck surface showcases Trex Transcend Lineage Biscayne composite, including square-edge boards for the picture-frame border, divider board, and stair treads, and grooved-edge boards with Trex hidden fasteners for the main surface. Matching Trex Biscayne 12" fascia and 8" stair risers complete the finished look.
The railing system includes Trex Transcend black railing with round black balusters, Trex post sleeves, caps, and skirts, and a Trex Biscayne cocktail rail on all horizontal sections. The project also features custom vertical Trex Lineage skirting installed beneath the fascia for a premium, fully enclosed appearance.
A&S installed a full Trex low-voltage lighting package, which includes:
- One new exterior outlet & mounted Trex transformer
- 14 riser lights (two per stair)
- 14 lighted post caps
- Dimmer, wiring extensions, hub splitters, connectors, and low-voltage routing to both staircases
Built with premium Trex materials, structural hardware, and integrated lighting, this project delivers a modern, low-maintenance outdoor living space tailored for comfort, safety, and nighttime ambiance.
