Case Study: Trex Enhance® Foggy Wharf Deck Replacement – Louisville, KY 40222

Completed between April 7 and May 1, this 453 sq ft Trex Enhance® Foggy Wharf deck replacement in Louisville, KY included a full demolition, complete framing rebuild, upgraded Trex decking, and coordinated railing and fascia installation. A&S Construction removed the existing structure, pulled all required permits, and installed new 6x6 and 4x4 pressure-treated posts, reinforced framing, and 12" on-center joists protected with joist tape for long-term durability.
The deck surface features Trex Enhance Naturals Foggy Wharf, with square-edge boards used for the picture-frame border and stair treads, and grooved boards with Trex hidden fasteners for a clean, seamless finish. Matching Trex Clamshell 12" fascia and 8" risers add a polished appearance along rim joists and stair framing.
Railing upgrades include Trex Enhance/Select composite railing with black aluminum balusters and black post sleeves, caps, and skirts for a modern, cohesive look. The project also includes approximately 220 sq ft of horizontal deck-board skirting installed around the main deck to match the home’s existing aesthetic and improve ventilation and concealment.
Built with premium Trex materials, Simpson structural hardware, and high-quality PT framing, this project delivers a durable, low-maintenance outdoor living space designed to withstand years of use in Louisville’s four-season climate.
